At Bliss Clinic our basic, fundamental approach is chiropractic. It allows us to look at the functioning of the whole body through the lens of the spinal column. The health of the spine, its functioning (good, poor or mediocre), mirrors the functioning of whole body and its internal organs. There is a reciprocal relationship between the spine and the body: If certain body parts and organs are weak, then the spine at certain levels will be correspondingly weak and/or painful. And conversely, a weak or painful spine can often lead to weakened body parts and, not infrequently, abnormal organ functioning.
When our chiropractors assess a person's health problem, be it a "tennis elbow", migraine, back pain, constipation or depression, we not only make the traditional examination and diagnosis of the problematic part, we also assess the functioning of the spine and body as a whole to determine the extent of its involvement in the problem at hand. We call this a "double diagnosis"- diagnosing the condition of the diseased part as well as making a parallel diagnosis of the condition of the whole - a 'functional' diagnosis. This distinguishes the classic chiropractic approach from the traditional medical approach. It helps us to "see the bigger picture" and understand why the body is giving pain and why it is not healing itself properly. The site of pain and the underlying problems are usually not located in the same place and only a full-body examination reveals this.
With this comprehensive diagnostic information, we are able to design efficient treatment programs which fix not only the diseased parts but at the same time improve the overall health and functioning of the whole person. In practice, at Bliss Clinic, our patients usually get a "double bonus" -not only pain relief, but also some tangible degree of improved health.
Consultation and Physical Examination
Initial chiropractic consultation and physical examination with our chiropractors takes 60-90 minutes. It is very thorough. With it, the patient comes to appreciate not only what their problem is, and where the weak links lie, but also how it fits into the bigger picture of their general health and bodily functioning. And educated patient is a motivated patient, in our experience.
Both father and son, Dr.'s Fraser and Nicholas Bliss have university-level chiropractic education outside of Finland. Fraser Bliss has an additional four years of post-graduate specialty in chiropractic sports medicine.
